About Karen Berman

Karen has spent her lifetime residing on the California North Coast.  A graduate of Humboldt State University in Journalism, she worked for nonprofits fundraising, marketing and event planning for over 30 years. But, a new found love, watercolor painting, became her passion.  From early beginnings, self taught and then taking classes and HSU and CR, she continued her training attending workshops around the United States.

She has been represented by Sewell Gallery, Strawberry Rock Gallery and was a member of the Morris Graves Museum Gallery.   She's had a number of solo shows From Plaza Design in Eureka and Arcata; Ramone's gallery, Eureka; and First Street Gallery in Eureka.  She also participates in North Coast Open Studios. One of her florals was chosen to be in the California Watercolor Association National Annual show, San Francisco, CA.

"I paint what I think is beautiful and what makes me feel happy and grateful.  I love the color, beauty, play of light and intricacy of flowers. I also love interpreting the play of light and the energy of water...so I also paint landscapes with elements of water in them."   Over 60 of Karen's paintings can be see at Open Door Clinic in Eureka and Arcata which  are in their permanant collection.
