Some paintings are already framed (which will be noted) and others have a 2 inch painted edge.

This painting begins my theme of expressionist flower paintings in vases. All are very different and explore my relationship with flowers. For 30 years I have painted large watercolor paintings of flowers and my love of subject matter has not changed but, rather than create accurate depictions of flowers, I have changed to expressing my joy of flowers.
I use bold, some non-naturalistic colors, simplified or distorted forms, and energetic, textured brushwork to convey my emotion and inner feelings.

Living amidst some of the most beautiful redwood forests in the world, I have experienced many glorious walks. While creating this painting, I was thinking of those walks with the lovely air, towering trees, blues of the sky poking through the branches and my joy of being there.
